Family Learning Festival

Connections for Children’s (CFC) Play Together, Grow Together: A Family Learning Festival was a brand-new event created to directly support our community—and it was a resounding success! This free festival welcomed nearly 500 children and families for a day filled with interactive, nature-inspired activities that encouraged healthy parent-child interactions and fostered a love of learning.

Held on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Torino Festival Plaza in Torrance, the event offered families a chance to explore hands-on activities like planting seeds, painting pots, and engaging in sensory play with natural materials. Alongside the fun, attendees accessed valuable health and well-being resources designed to support early childhood development and strengthen family connections.

The festival was a joyful celebration of our vibrant community and our commitment to our youngest learners.

Stay tuned for the date and location of  the next  Family Learning Festival. We can’t wait to build on this year’s success and make it even more impactful!

Holiday Angels

Every year Connections for Children collects holiday gifts for children whose families are enrolled in our child care subsidy program. Through the Holiday Angels Program, we share the spirit of giving.

This event is a great opportunity for schools, businesses, and corporations to join together to contribute games, toys, and books. Each year the number of children we serve grows. Support is critical to give all our children a very happy holiday.

The deadline for Holiday Angels has passed, but you can still support this and other CFC programs with a donation.

If you would like to become a Holiday Angel for 2025, please contact our Outreach Coordinator, Kimberly Jimenez or 310-452-3325 x276.

Betsy Awards

The Betsy Awards, established by Connections for Children, honor individuals and organizations that have made a profound impact on the lives of young children and families. Named after Betsy Hiteshew, a nationally renowned early childhood pioneer and co-founder of Connections for Children in 1976, the awards celebrate those who share her legacy of commitment to high-quality, accessible early childhood education and family support. This inspiring event brings together educators, advocates, and community leaders, highlighting achievements that advance equity and opportunity for children and families across the community.
