In light of the recent Los Angeles wildfires, Connections for Children hosted an emergency response, free Air Purifier & Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Distribution Event for child care providers. The event took place on Saturday, February 8th at our corporate office located in Westchester and was a drive-thru distribution. Materials for the event were donated by our partners at Baby 2 Baby and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Office for the Advancement of Early Care and Education (OAECE). Thanks to our wonderful partners, CFC staff, and the unwavering commitment of our providers, the event was a huge success!
146 child care providers—including 97 Family Child Care homes, 34 Centers, and 15 License-Exempt providers—left the distribution event with free essential resources to enhance the safety and well-being of the children in our community. A total of 325 air purifiers, 134 boxes of N95 masks, 258 boxes of nitrile gloves, 590 coveralls, and 300 pairs of goggles were given away at this event. Child care providers were also provided with valuable resources from local community organizations, Community Care Licensing, and even some fun materials from Sesame Street’s Family Guide!
We were thrilled to see so many child care providers stop by and connect with our CFC team. The providers’ enthusiasm and dedication to providing safe and healthy environments for the children in their care truly inspired us. Thank you, providers and educators, for being such an integral part of this event and our community!
