Play Together, Grow Together: A Family Learning Festival
Connections for Children’s (CFC) Play Together, Grow Together: A Family Learning Festival was a brand-new event in 2025, created to directly support our community, and it was a joyful success. This free festival brought together children and families for interactive, nature-inspired activities that encouraged healthy parent-child interactions and nurtured a love of learning.
Families enjoyed hands-on experiences like planting seeds, painting pots, and engaging in sensory activities with natural materials. The day offered a welcoming space for exploration, connection, and celebration. Throughout the event, families also accessed valuable well-being resources designed to support early development and strengthen family bonds.
The festival was a beautiful reflection of our vibrant community and our shared commitment to supporting our youngest learners from the very start.
Our First-Ever Family Learning Festival Was a Joyful Success!
On Sunday, April 13, 2025, Connections for Children proudly hosted its inaugural Family Learning Festival at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center—and what a day it was! More than 450 families joined us for a vibrant celebration of learning, connection, and community.
The day was filled with joy and discovery as children and families decorated terra cotta pots and planted seeds to nurture at home, created floral bookmarks and artwork with dried flowers, and explored sensory activities that sparked curiosity and creativity. The youngest guests especially loved digging into nature play materials, while the upbeat music from our live DJ kept everyone dancing and smiling throughout the event.
Mija Books hosted a magical book fair, where each child chose up to two free books from Connections for Children—many of them cuddled up with their new reads on the lawn right away! Our friends at Home Depot (Torrance) led hands-on kids workshops, and magician Jeff Thomson wowed the crowd with interactive magic that left jaws dropped and eyes wide with wonder.
Parents were able to gather free resources, expert tips, and fun ideas to continue learning and play at home. From giveaways to laughter-filled moments, the day was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we come together to support early learning.
We’re deeply grateful to everyone who made this event possible—and to the families who helped us make our very first Family Learning Festival such a success. We can’t wait to do it again!
